Dr. J. Vernon McGee said that Romans 8:28 is a soft pillow to rest on. Believers need that soft pillow because we will have trials, hardness, tribulations, purging, weakness, infirmities, chastening, scourging and persecution. My Pastor Kent McBay wisely pointed out that the good God is working is to conform us to the image of His Son. That should be our goal as well. James 1:3: Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 2 Timothy 2:3: Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. Romans 5:3: And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; John 15:2: Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 2 Corinthians 12:9: And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Hebrews 12:6: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. 11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. 2 Timothy 3:12: Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. *Say not my soul, *From whence can God relieve my care? |
